Lady Tribunes swarm Finger Lakes
MCC forces 41 turnovers in a 97-44 rout.
CANANDAIGUA, New York - Monroe Community College turned 41 Finger Lakes turnovers into an incredible 61 points en route to a 97-44 victory over the Lakers in a women's basketball game Tuesday evening.
The Tribunes (3-0) also held a 52-22 advantage in points in the paint and a 30-0 edge in fast break points in winning its third straight in blowout fashion.
Tyese Purvis led six players in double figures with 23 points for MCC. The sophomore guard was 9-of-12 from the field, hit a pair of 3's, and added five assists and four rebounds.
Monroe led 11-10 with 13:37 left in the opening half before embarking on a 32-5 run over the next 10 minutes to take a commanding lead. Deja Carroll connected on consecutive 3-pointers and finished with all 10 of her points during the run.
Jasmine Myers finished with 16 points and Kiki Bynes added 14 points, 10 assists, and five steals. Tolulope Ogunrinde scored 11 and Bailey Hixson added 10.
MCC attempted 72 shots from the field while holding the Lakers to just 37 attempts.
