Lady Tribs dominant in win over Genesee
Monroe holds the Cougars to just eight second-half points.
BATAVIA - The MCC Lady Tribunes pressed all the right buttons in their showdown with WNYAC rival Genesee CC Thursday. The end result was a thoroughly dominant 82-28 victory to wrap up the regular season.
Monroe heads to the postseason winners of 10 straight. MCC (24-3) will host the NJCAA District C tournament March 7 and 8 on Monagan Court.
Bailey Hixson hit four 3-pointers and led five in double figures in with 20 points while also pulling down seven rebounds. Ayana Ratliff was 7-for-11 from the field and scored 16 to go along with seven assists.
MCC raced to a 44-20 lead at the break. The Cougars then went ice cold over the final 20 minutes, scoring just eight points compared to 38 for the Tribunes. Monroe held Genesee to 19 percent shooting (10-for-53) on the night.
Dionne Coe chipped in with 12 points, five assists, and five steals for MCC. Nubia Haynes added 10 points and 10 rebounds, and Fannisha Price also scored 10.
Deaisia Acklin finished with eight points, six rebounds, four assists and four steals, and Rose Ayala had six points and eight rebounds. Tanisha Barr hauled down six boards for the Tribs, who outrebounded GCC 48-32.
